Up North Trips Program – PAST PROGRAM

The Up North Trips Program is a unique and empowering initiative designed specifically for neurodivergent adults. This program offers a rich opportunity to explore outdoor sports while honing essential life skills in the breathtaking Laurentian Mountains. Participants can enjoy travel experiences, connect with nature, and cultivate personal growth in a supportive environment.

Program Overview

Location: The Laurentians

Group Size: 8–12 participants

Coordinators: Two dedicated leaders to guide and support participants throughout the trip

Program Objectives

The primary goals of the Up North Trips Program include:

Outdoor Exploration:

Encouraging participants to engage in various outdoor sports and activities such as hiking, canoeing, paddle boating, snowshoeing, tobogganing, and more, to enhance physical fitness and appreciation for the natural world.

Life Skills Development:

Providing opportunities to practice and improve essential life skills—such as teamwork, problem-solving, and communication—through structured activities and outdoor experiences.

Travel Experience:

Offering participants the chance to gain confidence and independence in travel by navigating new environments and experiences.

Nature Connection:

Facilitating a deep, meaningful connection with nature, which can contribute to mental well-being and stress reduction.

Activities and Adventures

Participants will embark on various adventures throughout the program, including but not limited to:

Preparing and cooking meals

Creative activities – arts & crafts

Guided hikes through scenic trails

Canoeing on tranquil lakes (summer)

Snowshoeing on trails (winter)

Wildlife observation and nature photography

Campfire storytelling and stargazing nights
